The Town of Douglas was founded as the site of a copper smelter in 1901. Located 118 miles southeast of Tucson with a population of 15,000, the city serves a commercial market of 150,000. Its elevation is 3,990 feet and the city enjoys sunshine 320 days a year on average with a yearly total rainfall of 13.05 inches with the majority falling during July and August.
